David Gibbs holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in computer science, both from San Diego State University. He earned his PhD in educational technology at UW-Madison. His dissertation examined the impact of cognitive styles upon achievement in introductory programming.
Gibbs has taught at UW-Rock County, UW-Marathon County, and since 1999, UW-Stevens Point. His primary teaching experience has been in programming languages, including assembly, FORTRAN, Pascal, BASIC, C, C++, Java, C#, and Web programming languages. He also teaches a course and delivers lectures on the social aspects of technology. He has extensive experience in both developing and delivering online instruction, having done so for both the UW Colleges and UW-Stevens Point. Gibbs’s research interests include text-to-speech applications and mobile application development.
