The 27th annual Health Information Professionals (HIP) Week is here. From April 3 to 9, the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) invites all health information professionals to join the celebration and be honored for their work and large contribution to our health system.
This year, the theme of HIP Week is “Accurate Information, Quality Care,” reflecting AHIMA’s commitment to improving care by ensuring that the right information is available to the right person at the right time.
UW HIMT joins the fun
During HIP Week, health information professionals engage in activities—such as lunch and learns, lobby displays, quizzes with prizes, community seminars, and local media coverage—with organizations and communities to bring attention to their important work.
UW Health Information Management and Technology (HIMT) joined the celebrations this week, offering a fun opportunity for all students in the bachelor’s program:
Take a short HIP Week quiz, and if you answer all questions correctly, you’ll be entered in a drawing for free AHIMA giveaways. You could win AHIMA swag, exam prep materials, textbooks, and other reference materials.
To participate, email Program Manager Wil Limp at firstname.lastname@example.org, and he will send you the quiz.

An eventful week for health information professionals
HIP Week coincides with AHIMA’s Advocacy Leadership Symposium and Hill Day on April 4 and 5. The two events allow leaders and AHIMA members to advocate the HIM profession and discuss its strategic direction, together and with congressmen on Capitol Hill. If you’re in Washington, D.C. this week, don’t miss it!
